In the Christian tradition, meditation involves stilling the mind while repeating a mantra, a short phrase aimed at helping concentration. The word “maranatha”, Aramaic for “Come Lord Jesus” and last word in Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, is often recommended.

Traditional Christian meditation is focused totally on the mind, repeating the mantra and and allowing God to speak through it - and for some this works well.

But many people have found a need to integrate the intellectual mantra with the physical realities of their own physical limbic system (via breathing) and with the external world, by actively manipulating something. The Lotus Flower Meditatior, with its range of forms and seven sides (see The Importance of Seven in Christian Thought) has been found to provide an excellent basis for this.
